Festivals 2014

 

  • Charlestown Regatta
  • Date- 26th July - 1st August
  • A week long celebration including a sailing regatta alongsode live music, Carnival procession, childrens events and competitions.

 

 

  • Gunnislake festival
  • Date- 30th July- 2nd August
  • Village walks, live bands, barbeques, film screenings and concerts all feature. Local pubs put on a variety of events each evening with the main festival day ending off the week in a community jamboree.

 

  • RNAS Culdrose day
  • Date- 31st July
  • It’s your chance to see behind the scenes of the Fleet Air Arm, the Royal Navy’s flying force on the only day of the year when the public can step into the world of Culdrose and experience the sights, sounds and smells of a working military Naval Air Station.
  • Trereife Summer Festival
  • Date - 1st - 3rd August
  • Food and Craft stall set in the grounds of this historic house.  Watch the Cornish Wrestling Championships in the grounds. Meet the challengers and learn more about this ancient Cornish sport. There’s a programme of children’s entertainment, storytelling, magic show and much more throughout the grounds.

 

  • The Holifair Festival
  • Date - 1st - 3rd August
  • Holifair Festival is a family friendly fundraising festival with over 30 live bands, talks, cabaret, barn dance, kids area with loads of great workshops, dance tent, chill out space, walkabout acts, fire-pit, storytelling and more.

 

  • 100: The day our world changed
  • Date- 3rd August
  • The Lost Gardens of Heligan and WildWorks Theatre are collaborating to create ’100: The day our world changed’

 

  • Be Active Truro
  • Date- 4th  - 9th August
  • Lemon Quay will be transformed into a sports and activity hub as the ‘Be Active Truro’ Festival presents an abundance of free activities including ‘come and try’ sports sessions, demonstrations plus a whole host of goodies.

 

  • Creation Fest
  • Date- 2nd - 8th August
  • Creation Fest is a free admission Christian music festival with Bible teaching, and fun for the whole family.

 

  • Board Masters
  • Date- 6th - 10th August
  • Boardmasters returns to Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay for another full festival weekend of beach-side living.Try your hand at surfing in Cornwall, watch pro surf competitions, eat well, drink well (in moderation!) and get your hands in the air for a perfect line up of summer acts... all along the awesome Cornish coastline.

 

  • Play Fest
  • Date - 6th - 7th August
  • PlayFest, held at Boscawen Park, Truro, is a two day festival of art, culture and community bringing together children, young people and their families with the artists in their communities across Cornwall.

 

  • Falmouth Week
  • Date- 8th - 17th August
  • Henri Lloyd Falmouth Week, six days of competitive racing for keelboats, traditional craft and dinghies in the waters of Falmouth Bay, the Carrick Roads and the Harbour, with a Champagne Day on Wednesday. Activity on the water is matched by a lively Shoreside programme of daytime and evening entertainment, culminating in a magnificent firework display over the Harbour.

 

  • Camelford Agricultural Show
  • Date- 13th August
  • Traditional agricultural show, Includes dog shows, vintage vehicle collections, displays of cattle, sheep and horses, sheep shearing displays, a heavy horse show and much more.

 

  • Cornwall Design fair
  • Date- 15th - 17th August
  • In 2009, the first Cornwall Design Fair in association with Hidden Art took place successfully at the inaugural fair at Trereife Park with 51 designer-makers. In 2011, 74 designer-makers booked in for the fair attracting more than 3,500 visitors.

 

  • Cornish Steam and Country Fair
  • Date - 15th - 17th August
  • The show is very much a family event. As well as Steam Engines, Old Time Fun Fair,Vintage Vehicles, Model and Craft displays, horse working demonstrations there is something for all the family.around the show. From bouncy castles to vintage wood sawing, trade stands to heavythere is much more to entertain everyone for all the family.

 

  • Bude Carnival
  • Date- 16th August
  • The delightful annual carnival procession through Bude. Money collected on the day is donated to local charities and organisations. Afternoon events are held in The Castle Grounds.

 

  • St Ewe Country fair
  • Date- 17th August
  • A fun day out with a rural theme, something for all ages, sheepdog demonstrations, birds of prey, music, crafts, farmers market, children's marquee with puppet shows and much more.

 

  • Fowey Royal Regatta
  • Date- 17th - 23rd August
  • Fowey Royal Regatta is held every August and is one of britains premier sailing events. However, not all the action takes place on the water, there's plenty to keep landlubbers entertained.

 

  • Cornwall Folk festival
  • Date- 22nd - 25th August
  • Wide range of folk perfomances and workshops held in venues around the town.

 

  • Cornwall Pride
  • Date- 23rd August
  • Cornwall Pride is Cornwall''s big celebration of equality and diversity (and all thats great in life) 

 

  • Morval Vintage Steam Rally
  • Date- 23rd - 25th August
  • A working vintage steam rally with vintage tractors, cars, motorbikes, military vehicles, commercials and stationary engines, trade stands, craft tent, hot food, bar and children's entertainment. An enjoyable day out for adults and children alike.

 

  • Portscatho Regatta
  • Date- 23rd August
  • A traditional regatta with a full programme of sailing over an exciting and highly visible course in the beautiful Gerrans Bay.

 

 

  • Newlyn Fish Festival
  • Date- 25th August
  • One of Cornwall's most distinctive and original fishing ports.Satisfy your appetite with the best seafood you can get whilst enjoying great cooking demos, live entertainment or bidding at the seafood auction.Cornish celebration of the sea, fishing and seafood at the 25th Newlyn Fish Festival, where you will find more fish than you can shake a mermaid’s tail at!

 

  • Bude Jazz Festival
  • Date- 26th - 29th August
  • Jazz Festival with a wide range of events taking place around the town of Bude.

 

  • Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta 2014
  • Date - 28th  - 31st August
  • Falmouth has been chosen as the start port for the Falmouth-Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta 2014. The ships, including a number of impressive square-rigged vessels, will gather in Falmouth for three days of festivities, before the Race Start on Sunday 31st August.
  • Falmouth Splash
  • Date - 7th - 16th September
  • Celebrating creativity in Falmouth. Art installations, poetry, drama, comedy, dance - we'll be celebrating all and more in September at Falmouth's newest festival.

 

  • Cornish Pasty Festival
  • Date- 12th - 14th September
  • A celebration of the famous icon of Cornwall – the Cornish pasty.  Encompassing the mining history that is inextricably linked to the meal - and uncovering the magic of Redruth at the heart of Cornish mining.

 

  • The Little Apple Cyder and Music Festival
  • Date- 12th - 14th September
  • The Little Apple Festival is held over 3 days within the grounds of Healey's Cyder farm where the famous Rattler Cyder is created – Tickets include tractor rides around the orchards and working farm and free Cyder samples.

 

  • St Ives Cornwall - September Festival
  • Date- 13th - 27th September
  • Annual music and arts festival which features a host of events across town, such as Live music,comedy, films and street entertainment.

 

  • South East Cornwall Walking Festival
  • Date- 13th - 20th September
  • Once again our wonderful bit of Cornwall is ready to be explored by anybody happy to leave the car and take to the paths and tracks. We hope that there will be a walk for you, be it along the South West Coast Path, around a historic village or out on the rugged countryside of Bodmin Moor.

 

  • Looe Music Festival
  • Date- 19th - 21st September
  • For three days in September the little town of Looe in South East Cornwall gets hit with big music, manic entertainment and a smattering of culture for good measure. The festival pops up from nowhere to transform the beach and the streets, giving locals & visitors from all over the world a chance to mingle and enjoy the show. 

 

  • Roseland Festival
  • Date- 20th September  - 4th October
  • The 2014 Festival promises something for everyone with a wide-range of events over two weeks, including literature, theatre, art, food and cookery and walks. There are performances from nationally acclaimed artists and Cornish artists with national reputations. 

 

  • Splash
  • Date- 20th - 28th September
  • Falmouth will once again be a creative explosion of sight and sound!  

 

  • Bude for food
  • Date- 20th - 21st September
  • The first Bude For Food festival will take place in the iconic Bude Castle grounds over the weekend of 20-21 September and will showcase food and drink producers from the Bude area and beyond.

 

  • Cornwall Food and Drink Festival
  • Date- 26th - 28th September
  • The 11th Cornwall Food & Drink Festival will take place on Lemon Quay, Truro once again.  Featuring the Chefs’ Theatre with some of the county’s finest chefs, the Croust Bar and the widest selection of local food and drink producers you will find in Cornwall.  
  • Callington Honey Fair
  • Date - 1st October
  • A traditonal street fair with over 100 stalls, plus music and street entertainers.

 

  • Boscastle Food festival
  • Date- 4th - 5th October
  • Great food, great producers and great Michelin Star chefs, a showcase for top talent from Cornwall’s finest restaurants. See the chefs in action and get the flavour of what life’s like behind the kitchen door.

 

  • Falmouth Oyster Festival
  • Date- 9th - 12th October
  • Falmouth Oyster Festival celebrates the start of the oyster dredging season, the diversity and quality of Cornish Seafood and in particular, one of the last remaining traditional oyster fisheries, dredging by sail and hand punt.

 

  • Lowender Peran Festival
  • Date- 15th  - 19th October
  • Lowender Peran is a registered Charity set up to encourage recognition of Cornwall`s heritage and Celtic links as a vibrant, living tradition that people of all ages and backgrounds can participate in and enjoy.

 

  • Falmouth Beer festival
  • Date- 24th - 25th October
  • An excellent annual beer festival held in Falmouth. Experience a broad range of 150 local and national ales. Plus real lagers, real ciders and perries.

 

  • Calstock Jazz and Blues festival
  • Date- 24 - 26th October
  • A weekend of Jazz and Blues.This is an inclusive, community event involving every venue with events for all age groups from children to seniors to cater for all tastes.

 

  • Hallowden
  • Date- 25th October  - 2nd November
  • Celebrate Halloween in Cornwall this October half-term: get involved in magical craft activities & dare to be scared & follow the trail around Eden and collect the things the Witch needs to cast her spell.
  • Halloween Masked Ball
  • Date - 1st November
  • The UK’s only Halloween Festival.  There are more than 40 DJs and bands.

 

  • Cornwall Film festival
  • Date- 7th - 9th November
  • Annual celebration of Cornish and international filmmaking. The Festival offers local and national premieres, professional development workshops, lectures and parties.

 

  • St Austell Torchlight Carnivel
  • Date- 15th November
  • Marking the beginning of winter, a one day celebration in the china clay capital of Cornwall. Live bands, stalls, music and dance and the Torchlight Carnival parades through the town.

 

  • City of lights
  • Date- 19th November
  • Nothing heralds the Christmas season quite like the warm glow of festive lights in Truro. Music and arts start from 5.45pm.

 

  • Trerife Christmas fair
  • Date- 21st - 23rd November
  • Opening with a Lantern Parade with the park lit by the Newlyn Harbour lights, whilst choirs and brass bands provide the entertainment, creates a most magical atmosphere. Under cover in heated marquees - the perfect opportunity to stock up for the festive season.

 

  • St Austell Christmas events
  • Date- 25th November - 16th December
  • Celebrate the festive season in St Austell with a Seasonal Market and enjoy a wide range of music and street theatre in a busking competition.
  • Truro Primestock show
  • Date- 3rd December
  • The annual Christmas Primestock Show is a favourite with farmers and townspeople alike. The Marquee on Lemon Quay will be filled with the sight of cattle and sheep as the best Cornish livestock is judged.

 

  • Padstow Christmas festival
  • Date - 4th - 7th December
  • Embrace the festive season with a trip to Padstow’s annual Christmas Festival and see this Cornish fishing village come alive with celebrity chefs, culinary delights and festive fun.

 

  • Fowey Christmas market
  • Date- 5th - 7th December
  • The beautiful seaside town of Fowey hosts a weekend of festive entertainment, food and drink along with plenty of opportunities to pick up some great Christmas gifts.

 

  • Liskeard Lights up
  • Date- 6th December
  • Liskeard Lights Up 2014 will be an all day event, as darkness falls the town will gather for The Lights Before Christmas lantern parade and carols.

 

  • Nadelik- A Cornish Christmas
  • Date- 6th December
  • Celebrate Christmas the Cornish way with fireside tales, music and dancing plus find your perfect present from the range of craft and gift stalls. Enjoy mulled wine and mince pies and meet Father Christmas in the castle keep.

 

  • Montol Festival
  • Date- 15th - 20th December
  • The Montol festival is a six day arts and community festival celebrating the midwinter solstice and Cornish traditions of the past, culminating in the main event, Montol Eve on December 21.
